A combination of things lead to this piece. I have not colored via photoshop in a while so I wanted to do a bit of digital art, but something with different light sources, since I have seen a few images by others with very nice lighting. The scene came from a day dream I had about having a roommate...who can be seen above :) She helps with the bills, but I am the main cook of this household!

Very good work vitty, I can see when we last spoke you where taking your time. Well it most certianly paid off. I just love the light work and shadows you done from the brightness of the windows and dim candle light to the reflection of the window on the polished floor. P.S you caught me snooping your arts
*wiggles tail and makes off with your halo* Hehe Awww I have to sneak around your halo is always a nice prize to snag even though I always return it to you. :3 Just a few hours ;) hehe well its time well spent and it most certianly shows *sets your halo back on your head gives you a peck on the nose*

Beautiful lighting, wonderful shading and I want this room. ^^
I only have 3 critique points:
-her left hand seems a bit flat
-the candle by the mirror matches the wall a little too closely in color/texture and seems like it's supposed to be a 'ghost candle'
-she doesn't seem to be sinking into the red cushion enough to match her apparent mass.
Other than that you make me quite jealous with your manipulation of PS.

Right now, I still find your B&W works (or marker works as in the more recent "like pieces of a puzzle" drawing) hotter than your digitally colored pics. Hard to pinpoint why (I'm a complete newbie in digital coloring, I'm just about to start my own experiments). Maybe it has something to do with the airbrush(?) black shading which makes the bodies sort of monolithic, statue-like or naive. Did you try layers of lighter/darker color tones mimicking marker work instead?
I have not toyed around with using color tone variation when using digital media other than in cell rendered images. From seeing other's art mimicking paints or marker, I think it is worth a shot. I have much dabbling to do in the digital realm :) I might invest in a tablet which might offer a wider range of control in brush strokes.
