Jacob Quinn (Jay to his friends) is also known as Gyrum. Short for Hydragyrum. IE, Quicksilver. Because that's how he moves, like quicksilver.

Jay was a graduating senior in his highschool until an accident in detention brought him and a bunch of others in the detention to an alternate world... where humans are a tiny minority not much cared for, and the population were mostly anthros.

Found by a kindly mentor character, they were brought to the guild of mages and given devices to disguise themselves as anthros. In Jay's case, he became an otter.

Over the next few months each of the kids were trained as best befit their natures. In Jay's case, he was brought to be trained by thieves, and became a rather acrobatic one.

Now, saving the long-ass story, eventually those disguise devices malfunctioned and they became stuck in those forms. But by then they learned there was no going back home anyhow.

Jay, not having any close ties other than wanting to end the constant gang warfare he was in the middle off, adopted his new form and ways.

I don't know why he's not wearing anything in this picture. I'm guessing he just came out of a swim for some reason. XD
