I like the messy look if done right, it adds a nice organic feel to the peice. This is done digitally, so, although nice it's not quite as appealing to me as it would look if maybe it was drawn traditionally. Why not try it? Get some charcoal and pastels and just got nuts on some paper :)
i was actually thinking of acrylics... but i don't have time for real paints right now :[

it's funny though, i used to really hate digital media but somewhere in the last year or so i have come to prefer it. probably just because of how fast i can share it with the world.
