# Dr. Robotnik/Eggman - Sonic the Hedgehog
Reaching into the top ranks, it's Dr. Ivo Robotnik, the eggman, goo-goo-g'joob! In all the difficulty I had in choosing a roster of only 13 mad scientists, the two I had absolutely no problem in deciding on were who would take the first and second spots. Absolute no-brainers as far as I'm concerned and while I feel first place might be a touch easy to determine at this point, I really feel both are worth candidates as top spot! (Hell, this picture even looks a lot better then the number one spot does!) Robotnik only loses out by the smallest fraction of a point and making two characters tie for first place is pretty cheap. I gotta' be strict with these things!
Despite playing second fiddle, Eggman has been a factor in so many of our lives and in so many different forms. I can't think of anyone that hasn't experienced Sonic the Hedgehog in one way or another and where there's a hyper-kinetic blue rodent, there's a morbidly obese man trying to stop him! For most of us, myself included, I feel Eggman was one of the very first foils we ever came to know and grew to love to hate. Whether it be as the constant thorn in our sides at the end of each zone, or as a humorously absurd villain on day-time television, or as a shockingly dark and brooding despot of an apocalyptic world, this carton is full of rotten eggs that we just can't get the smell of out of our noses, no matter how much we try!
Suffice to say, Eggman is one of my all time favorite villains, capable of being both humorous and intimidating when the need arises. While my preference has always been toward the games, with my personal favorite look being that of his modern look starting with Sonic Adventure, I can't deny that each form the old egg has taken has brought something fun to the table. Even as much as I don't care for the Archie comics/SatAM incarnation, I'll openly admit that he's a damn good villain and if that's your preference, more power to you! Robotnik, much like his blue nemesis is just too iconic a character and I don't want to live in a world without the ole' egg!
As we near our number one pick for this year's Halloween, I'd like to take a moment to give some dishonorable mentions to the cads that sadly, couldn't make it.
The Lobe - Freakazoid
Prof. Monkey-for-a-Head - Earthworm Jim
Dr. Neo Cortex - Crash Bandicoot
Prof Chaos - South Park
Fawful - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Valentine - Skullgirls
Tron Bonne - Mega Man Legends
Dr. Hogback - One Piece
Doc Oc - Marvel Comics
Mr. Freeze - DC
May they fare better another year~

Honestly what's funny is that in terms of personality, he's still pretty much the same as in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. He was a complete delight though, he was the only reason to watch the show and while I most like his current design, voice wise I always hear Long John Baldry for the old egg.
