Halloween is Mataur's night as he can openly prowl in the city and neighborhoods and just be mistaken for a guy in a really awesome costume, allowing him to cause mischief and thievery more than effortlessly. But as he sat down in a bench, a young fox boy wearing a home made ghost costume approaches him with a Jack-O-Lantern bucket and gives him a giant lollipop.

"You have no candy! Just because you are a big kid it doesn't mean you can't get candy! I love your costume, it's so creepy! I like you!".

Mataur just looks confused as the fox boy looks pleased by his appearance and kindly offers him candy. "I have to go home now, it's getting late, hope you get more candy, mister!"

The little fox boy runs along in glee. Mataur could have easily scared him with a giant roar, he could have taken his candy and run away with it, he could have even just tossed the candy aside and made the boy cry. But not even an accursed beast like him would have the heart to crush someone whose innocence reminded him of his growing up. He looks upon the reflection on his giant lollipop, and ponders if there is hope for him to be something more, that deep down he doesn't want to be the criminal he feels his society created.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness are the ones that leave the biggest impressions on us, and sometimes even gets us to reflect upon our own fates and lives.
