The Lucky Fox: Final Chapter
Finally, they arrived to the forest. Red, Amy and Travis said goodbye again to the pirates, while the seven dwarfs headed singing to find another mine to work at. The little fox, the dragoness, and the troll hurried to get to the tower. Amy helped them by taking them flying on her back. When they landed at the balcony, Travis gave the magic crystal slippers to Red, who ran toward Princess Rochelle’s bed, jumped on it, and said:
“Princess Rochelle! We got the slippers. Be freed from your spell.”
Red put the slippers on the princess’s feet. However, nothing happened! Her feet were still petrified.
“What’s going on? Why doesn’t it work?”
“Because it was all a sham.” A monstrous voice said.
When Red and his friends turned to look at where the voice was coming from, they saw the giant snake, who wasn’t hurt by the lava at all, peeking from the balcony! It slithered into the room, becoming smaller, until it assumed a human form. Red immediately recognized it. It was Fahid the Fatal!
“Fahid! It was you all this time!”
“That’s right.” Fahid said. “After I casted that spell on the princess and banished her in her tower to the forest, I had to get a good disguise to prevent the castle’s knights from finding me. Then I invented the whole story of the magic crystal slippers so no one could know how to really undo the spell! And you will never know it, for you shall not live to tell it!”
Red, Amy and Travis began to fight Fahid the best they could, but the evil wizard easily defended himself with his spells. Using him magic staff, Fahid transformed Amy into a crystal statue and Travis into a stone gargoyle. Now Red was alone to fight the wizard! Or was he? Before he could get hurt, Fay appeared in front of him, blinding Fahid with her light, and throwing light attacks at him. However, Fahid fired a powerful bolt from his staff that pierced Fay’s body. She fell to the ground unconscious.
“NOOOOOOOO!” Red cried.
Then he lunged onto Fahid, trying to attack him, but the wizard stopped him with a magic blast and held him against the ground with his staff.
“Admit it, puny little fox. You have failed. You tried to save the princess and show your family you could be like them, but it was no use. In the end, you are nothing!”
The evil wizard cackled. Red couldn’t help but shed a tear. Suddenly, a miracle happened. The tear gave Fay some force to make Red see a vision with her magic. Before his eyes, the little fox saw all the good deeds he had done before and during his adventure. He realized he had inspired Mrs Crow enough for her to keep practicing until she became a talented singer. He also saved the Gingerbread Man’s life, helped her sister get the grapes she wanted all her life by suggesting building a ladder, inspired Amy and Travis to become heroes, helped the giants find their magic beans, defeated the Kraken along with his friends and freed the seven dwarfs. Encouraged, Red said to Fahid:
“I may not be what I promised my family to be… But I’m something more than that… I… am… a hero!”
Red managed to free himself from under Fahid’s staff, climbed upon it, and bite his hand. The wizard let go of his staff, then Red grabbed it with his mouth and shattered it against the ground. Small ghosts came out of the broken staff, and surrounded Fahid, tackling his body one after another. Each part of his body that got tackled disintegrated, and the ghosts kept hitting the evil wizard until he was completely destroyed. All of a sudden, all of Fahid’s spells were undone. Amy and Travis went back to normal, and Princess Rochelle’s feet, too!
“My feet! I got back my beautiful feet! Now I can walk, run and dance again! And it’s all thanks to you, my little fox.”
She jumped from her bed, danced around, lifted Red and hugged him. But then, Red turned to see Fay lying on the ground.
“Fay!” he said, jumping from the princess’s arms.
He approached Fay to see if she was ok. Weakly, Fay opened her eyes, turned to Red and said:
“W-Well done, l-little f-fox… I knew y-you could d-do it… You… you’re… a hero… Your family will be proud.”
“No, please, Fay. Don’t go, don’t go. Please!”
“It’s g-gonna b-be all right. I’ll be w-with you… always. B-but please… forget me not…”
Fay closed her eyes, and slowly transformed into a forget-me-not flower. Red, Princess Rochelle, Amy and Travis cried.
Next day, all the magic kingdom rejoiced. Princess Rochelle returned to her castle with her parents, the King and the Queen, who had ordered to build an even better tower for the princess to live. It even had a dance studio for her to practice her dance moves! They surely got rusty after not being able to dance for quite a while. Amy got her reward, lots of money for her and her dragon family to have a good life without having to steal or scavenge. Travis won the respect of the other trolls for being the first troll from the not anymore Haunted Forest to help save a princess with his inventions. He convinced them to not scare anyone ever again, because people would stop attacking them. Mr and Mrs Giant kept on living their happy lives in their enormous home above the clouds, making sure they had enough magic beans to visit the earth and return home. The pirates explored more islands, and Captain Hook was probably charting a new adventure. As for the little fox, he stopped using the name “Red”, because it was just a nickname. Besides, Princess Rochelle was about to give him a new title.
“Little Fox, you dared to go on a dangerous mission to break the spell that was casted on my feet, and because of that, you will be granted a home here in the castle! Hereinafter, your name will be… Reynard, the Lucky Fox.
Thus, Reynard, became the princess’s royal pet. He ate the best dishes, danced with the princess and every night he would sleep at her feet. They were warm, soft and comfy! Reynard’s family also had a better life. Daily, they got special deliveries from the castle. Cheese and inanimate gingerbread men for his parents, and grapes for his sister. Fay, now a forget-me-not flower, also earned a home at their den, in a flower vase.
That’s how Reynard, the lucky fox, finally achieved something to be recognized about in storybooks, and everyone lived happily ever after.
