The Lucky Fox: Chapter 7
Inside the mine, there were shiny diamonds embedded in the walls. Suddenly, Red heard strange singing, and told his friends to follow him to see where the singing was coming from. After walking for a while through the mine, they found the source of the singing, seven dwarfs!
“Yo, guys! What are you doing here?” Travis greeted them.
“What do you mean what are we doing here? This is our workzone!” The grouchy dwarf said.
“Forgive my buddy’s behavior.” The leader said. “We’re the seven dwarfs, and it’s our job to collect diamonds from this mine.”
“Wow, are they for all of you?” Amy asked.
“No. If they were for us, we would have already left this place a long time ago to live a life of richness, since we already gathered a lot of them.” Another dwarf said.
“Then who are they for?” Amy asked.
“We have to offer them as a tribute to the monster that lives here.” Another one said.
“The Bi-per?” Red asked.
“Yes, that one. It could be said we are its slaves.” Another one said.
“And it doesn’t even want to pay us back!” Another dwarf said.
“Sometimes we want to escape from this place with all the diamonds we can get, but if the monster sees us, he’ll eat us all!” The last dwarf said.
“Why are you here, anyway? A place like this could be very dangerous for the three of you.” The leader said.
“We’re looking for the magical crystal slippers. I’ve heard they are found here.” Red said.
The seven dwarves gasped.
“... Why do you exactly want those crystal slippers, young one?” The leader said.
“We need them to break the spell an evil wizard casted on a princess’s feet! With her feet petrified, she will never be able to dance or even walk!”
“Listen to me, child. The road to find those slippers is a very dangerous one. Only we know it, but if you want to follow us, you must be fully armed of bravery and ready to face whatever comes on the way.”
“We faced a Kraken and won, so a giant two headed snake wouldn’t be so much problem.” Travis said.
“Trust me, sir. We’re ready.” Red said.
“Fine… Follow me.”
The seven dwarfs guided Red, Amy and Travis through the mine until they arrived to where three mine carts were, each one with the capacity of 4 persons. Four dwarfs got in one, Travis, the Dwarf Leader and two other dwarves got in another one.
“Amy, you get in this one with me.”
“What, why?”
“Because… I care about you. You’re a very good friend to me.”
“Thanks, Red. You too.”
“Is everyone ready?” The Dwarf Leader asked them.
“Yes, boss.” The dwarfs said.
“All right, then. Let’s GO!”
The mine carts started moving on the rail. At first it looked like it was going to be a calm ride, but then, they saw a slope.
“Hold on!” the leader said.
The three carts went down the slope at high speed, and everyone screamed. But that wasn’t all. Ahead were stalactites! However, for the trio, it was no problem. Amy blew them up with her fire blasts, clearing the way. The carts went up and down in a rollercoaster-like rail surrounded by lava, then through a dark cave filled with hanging skeletons, and through an even darker one with bats flying around, through a hall where the walls fired poisoned darts at them!
“Duck!” The leader said.
“Those aren’t ducks, they are darts!” One of the dwarfs said.
Everyone ducked. Finally, the carts entered a door, where they stopped. The little fox, the dragoness, the troll and the dwarfs left the carts and in front of them, saw the Magic Crystal Slippers! Slowly, Red got close to the pedestal they were on, and carefully, picked them up.
“This is it, guys! We got them!” Red said.
Suddenly, the ground collapsed, and Red fell on a circular arena surrounded by lava. Travis mounted Amy and both descended to where their friend fell, while the seven dwarfs watched from above. Red was ok, and gave the slippers to Travis so he could store them in his bag. Suddenly, they heard a monstrous voice:
“Who dares to try and steal my crystal treasure?”
The Bi-per appeared in front of them!
“It’s mine!” The first head said.
“Anyone who tries to steal my treasure and free my slaves will perish by my might!” The second head said.
“You can’t defeat us, you evil aberration with two heads!” Travis said.
“We didn’t come all this way or nothing!” Amy said.
“All right, guys. It’s now or never. For the princess!” Red said.
“So be it.” Both of the Bi-per’s heads said.
A fierce battle began. Amy breathed fire at the Bi-per, Red fended off it with his cutlass, while Travis used stink bombs, one of his many inventions, to stun it. By combining attacks, Travis and Amy managed to create a smoke screen, leaving the Bi-per unable to see his surroundings. This gave Red the chance to climb upon it and slice one of its heads off. Then the Bi-per got angrier and defended itself by spitting fireballs at Amy and Travis. Blinded by rage, it snapped repeatedly at Red, making him flinch, and accidentally throw his cutlass into the lava! Just as the monster prepared to lunge at him and eat it, Red quickly jumped over it and ran over its very long body toward safety. Just like a derailed train, the Bi-per fell into the lava.
“Did we… defeat it?” Travis asked.
“I think so.” Red said.
“Travis, do you still have the slippers?” Amy asked.
Travis checked in his bag.
“Yep.”
“Then let’s go back to the tower in the forest and save the princess!” Red said.
“But we’ll have to walk a long, long way to return to the forest! And I don’t have the material to build some kind of vehicle to get there faster.” Travis said.
“There’s no need for that. We got friends, remember?”
Red and his friends called Captain Hook and his pirates to take them to the forest on their ship. They had also freed the seven dwarfs from the Bi-per’s slavery.
“Thanks for saving us, brave adventurers!” The dwarf leader said to them. “Now we can store all the diamonds we gathered from the Mystery Mine and keep working in another mine!”
“Wait, you’ll work in another mine?” Red said.
“Don’t you have enough diamonds already?” Amy asked.
“Shouldn’t you retire and live a life of richness?” Travis asked.
“Maybe, but we love our job, and this time, we won’t be bossed around by a monstrous two headed snake.”
Fay appeared and congratulated the trio.
“You’ve done very well, young ones. Now the princess is waiting for you at the tower.”
