Bought a brand new set of paints and had to do a test run. The painting is based on a photo taken by Shasta Cat here on Furaffinity. Thank you again for offering to share your photos and your kids with everyone here on FA. The image: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/382752/ . What can I say, from all he told me about 'his kids', they just grew on me..and I couldnt help myself!
I took liberty with the photo..or rather I was lazy..didn't really lay down much of an undersketch..just..sorta started throwing paint around and hoped..mebbe it would turn out ;). I think it was a successful practice session and well enjoyed might I add.
Size: 6x9.5"
Tools: Golden Acrylics on illustration board
Time: ? dunno..was distracted and painted while doing other things. Namely much of drinking coffee and staring at the telly mindlessly.
Oh and but of course, this fella's name is Macumba. Don't be fooled by the innocent bystander expression ;).

This turned out incredible well, I think, not that I'm biased or anything. :)
IMHO, you've captured everything that was in the original image, and even added a little more of his deviant expression. Of couse, I might be seeing things from a very skewed perspective, simply because of everything I know about my little, evil boy. :)
That you so much for posting this and sharing it! I like it very much, and I am very glad that the pictures have inspired you. That's the whole point of them being there, is so people who enjoy them, can "use" them. It would be my fondest hope that you, and anyone else that views them, would come to see them far beyond the dimentions of mere photography or even writing. If I can somehow make them "real", then I have been able to do them justice.
Again, I'm horribly biased, but I think even in this small painting, you managed to capture a depth and emotion that makes Macumba really come-to-life.

Based on a photo, eh? ...Talking about photorealism - I would've mistaken THIS picture for the photo!
