The Lucky Fox: Chapter 5
When they arrived, the place was just as they expected it to be. There were gingerbread houses, cookie streets, milkshake rivers, cotton candy clouds, cake trees, and so much more!
“I can’t believe it! We’re finally here, Sweetie Hollow!” Travis said. “Legend says the very ones Hansel and Gretel founded this village with the intention that everyone could live in a Gingerbread House, without risking being eaten by a witch.”
“So… can we eat anything from this place?” Red asked.
“Yes, as long as you don’t eat anyone’s property!”
Red, Amy and Travis found out which houses had no one inside and started eating pieces from them. What tasty houses they were! It was no problem for the gnome builders, because they quickly stuck replacement pieces. Then they looked at the milkshake river.
“Go ahead. It’s clean!” Travis said.
They grabbed some buckets, collected some milkshake and drunk it with mugs. Once they had eaten enough desserts, they prepared to move on. However, the ground began to shake. They looked around to find out what was causing the earthquake. In the distance, they saw two giants, approaching the village! They all screamed and ran away, but when the giants arrived, they turned out to be a friendly couple of giants, not wanting to hurt anybody. They were just searching for the bag of magic beans they had ordered, after finding out it had been delivered at the wrong place. Red offered them to help, and the giants agreed. Red, Amy and Travis decided to look for the magic beans at the local candy store. Maybe the employees mistook the magic beans with jelly beans. So they entered and searched for them at the jelly beans section. There were jelly beans of all colors, but no one seemed magic. Suddenly, Red noticed a small bag with green glowing beans. He took it to the giants.
“Hey, isn’t it this one?” he asked them.
“Yes it is! This little fox is quite smart!” the giant man said.
He buried them in the ground, and much to the little fox, the dragoness and the troll’s surprise, a giant beanstalk sprouted, reaching the clouds.
“All right, darling. Time to go home.” The giant man said to his wife.
“Excuse me, how did you get here in the first place?” Amy asked.
“We came down to visit the earth for a little while.” The giant lady said. “But some nasty lumberjacks cut down the beanstalk we descended from. So we had to order a new bag of magic beans for us to return to our home on the clouds.”
“However, as you noticed, it ended at the wrong place.” The giant man said. “And thanks to you, we got them back. Hey, how about it you come with us?”
“Well, you see…” Travis said. “We are on a mission to save a princess by finding a pair of magic crystal slippers. We cannot get too distracted. Maybe next time.”
“Nope. You must go now.” Fay said, suddenly appearing. “That is your next destination, the Realm of the Giants.”
The giants thought Fay was a Fly.
“There’s nothing to worry about, guys.” Red said to the giants. “It’s just Fay the Fairy, and she’s guiding us on our journey.”
“Well, ok, then” The giant man said.
“Come on, it will be fun!” the giant lady said. “It’s the least we can do to thank you.”
Thus, Red and Travis began to climb the beanstalk to keep up with the giants, but the giant man grabbed them and put them on his back, so they couldn’t grow tired. It was such a trilling ride for them!
“You coming, little dragoness? He asked to Amy.
“No, thanks. I can fly.”
The two giants and their new friends climbed the beanstalk until they arrived to the clouds. It was an awesome experience for the little fox and the troll to be above the clouds. They were afraid to fall off, but Amy was already used to it, since dragons fly most of the time. The giants couple invited the trio to their colossal house. The entrance, the table, the chairs and everything around them were the size of buildings!
“Wow, how are we gonna get on the table?” Red asked.
Then Travis had an idea. He took some of the very long strings from a giant mop and tied them together. Then Amy grabbed it, flew toward the backrest of one of the chairs and tied it there.
“Voila! A climbing rope!” Travis said.
“Wow, Travis, you are indeed a genius!” Red said.
Both of them climbed the rope to get on the table. The giant lady asked them if they wanted some bread, but then she remembered that they were very small. So she just gave them some tiny crumbs, that were the perfect size for them. Suddenly, Fay appeared on the table, and told Red, Amy and Travis that they had to get to a place called the Old Well.
“Hey, we know that place. It’s not too far from our garden.” The giant man said.
“However, that well has been out of service for a long time.” The giant lady said.
“But if you need to go there, we’ll gladly take you. Please follow us.”
For Red, Amy and Travis, the giants’ garden looked like an endless forest, with huge fruits and vegetables on the bushes and colossal bees and ladybugs flying around. Travis plucked an enormous mushroom from the ground and used it as a parasol in case a giant bug tried to attack them. They walked for a while until they arrived to the Old Well. It looked like a circular wall for the small trio.
“Guys, I think we must enter the well.” Red said.
“What? But what if we drown?” Travis said.
“I don’t think that will happen. The giants said it’s out of order, so it probably has no water inside.”
“No it doesn’t.” the giant man said. “Want me to take you up?”
“Yes, please.” Amy said.
The giant laid his hand on the ground for the trio to get on it, then rose it and put them at the edge of the well.
“Are you ready?” Red asked.
“Oh, yeah. Ready.” Amy said.
“Thanks for your help, big fellas!” Travis said. “And I mean literally big fellas. Maybe we’ll come visit you sometime. Or perhaps, you should come visit us, but please watch your step!”
“Aw, don’t worry.” The giant man said.
“Bye, sweeties!” the giant lady said.
“Goodbye, Mr. and Mrs. Giant!” Red said.
