Even though Finn/Fionna never obtained the Grass Sword in this AU, it doesn’t prevent Fern (Flora here) from managing to exist via other means.
The Grassy Wizard had decided to cause a bit of mischief, and he figured the best way to do so would be to create a clone of Fionna to frame her. To do so, he successfully swiped the Fionna Sword and pulled the Paradox Double Spirit that resided within the sword out of it and into the body of a grass golem that soon took on the appearance of Fionna.
Grass Fionna ended up rather confused. Though she possessed the memories of Fionna, they were somewhat cloudy, and even a bit skewed, with her always thinking she had been female. She saw the Grassy Wizard as her father, but wasn’t sure if the deeds he had her do were right or wrong.
She eventually met the real Fionna, and after a bit of talking and a bit of fighting, realized the truth of her creation. After taking down the Grassy Wizard, she wasn’t sure what to do, but Fionna let her know that she was still welcomed to live at the tree house.
Similar to in-series Fern, Flora is unsure of her identity, as she sees herself as Fionna, but realizes she isn’t her. Unlike Fern, she’s a lot more shy about what others think of her, and is prone to embarrassment. She’s attached greatly to Fionna, feeling as if she would be her greatest chance to learn of her own self and calling. She views her as an older sister figure.
