I dunno. Fitch is about as trustworthy as a rabid dog. I were that doc, I'd offer to treat him -- after rounding up the local wolverine assault squadron to back me up.

I remember Spellsinger. Haven't read those books in years, but I do recall one of the stories having an insane wolverine wizard, or something like that. Sheesh, wolverines are threatening enough without giving them magic! :)

More like an insane wolverine warrior that happened into something that GAVE him mage-like ability, powered literally by his insanity and a generous helping of chaos magic.

Once the thing departed, he was left without magic, but he was still a p*ssed off wolverine berzerker! Little 'oops' moment there....

I can't help but to think that Fitch, Shadow et al. would make pretty good Spellsinger characters, with very little change! And wolverines'd probably fit right into Shadow's universe, as well, in pretty much the same capacity.
