Each octopus is what is known in Australia as a cocktail frankfurt, some counties call them weeners, little franks, little boys, little savalloys. So I can't say what they are called in any one place.

Half of the frankfurt is carefully cut into eight without disconnecting them from the other half and two small slits are made for eyes. They are then boiled for five to ten minutes making sure to cover them fully in water. The hot water causes the natural skin of the frankfurt to shrink, making the legs curl and the eyes pop out a little. We simple use chop sticks or fingers to dip them in what ever sauce of your choice and eat. They're fun, silly and great for the kids too.
