I'd been meaning to revisit these characters for a while, and once I got the creative juices flowing again, everything just fell nicely into place.
Not too long after the previous installment, Chris and Annika were living a little ways off the northern California coast, doing their best to get by without drawing attention to themselves. This continued for a while until one day, they met a young woman not unlike themselves. Several years before, Lily, the daughter of a wealthy businessman, found a mysterious necklace on the beach that transformed her into an octopus-girl. Luckily for her, her father was very supportive, and constructed a sizable cliff-side home for her, featuring an indoor pool with an ocean access and enough security to keep the busybodies and paparazzi out.
Contrary to rich-bitch stereotype, Lily is actually a very kind-hearted young lady, and she was quick to take in the two very grateful squid-girls. Lily herself was quick to adapt after her change, and is honestly quite happy in her altered life. Since meeting Chris and Annika, she's been trying to help them accept their changes the way she has. Annika's been more or less receptive, but Chris is another story. Lily's been trying to comfort her, but hasn't quite grasped that Chris's main problem isn't the tentacles. Here we see her trying to reassure Chris that cecaelia life isn't such a bad deal. And Annika? Oh, she's around...
I'm very pleased with just about everything except the backgrounds here. I'm pretty happy with how the anatomy turned out, although Chris's head came out a little odd, andd the secret to convincing arms and hands continues to elude me :/ Doing the tentacle textures was fun; now that I've figured out the noise + blur trick in Photoshop, I'm finding a whole lot of uses for it :) I like how Lily's character design came out especially. I think I might be doing another picture or two with these characters...
