I remember when planning this comic I knew their separation was going to be a point of contention between them, and even though she is angry when she first sees him again she really is overjoyed that he's back, of course she can't really show it until they've worked through their argument. But the people you love can drive you the most crazy, especially if they mean a lot to you.
It's why it was so important that in Echoes it was highlighted their relationship and their viewpoints on exploring the wasteland since even if people love each other they don't always see eye to eye, and it makes for great drama.
