There sure are a lot of sapient animals in the Zelda series. Surely not all of them started that way... Probably more than a few of them are unfortunate (fortunate?) adventurers who found helpful items like these Boxing Gloves!
If the forces of evil control the dungeons, why doesn't Ganon just put a cursed item in the mid-dungeon chest? Wouldn't that be an effective way to stop the Hero from saving the world?
