Three Izhmak-Laraj cruisers with Sparkler derived tech, intercept a Zhodani core expeditionary task force.
Blue Globes bear more in common with Starwars/Trek 'shields' than typical black and white globe generators - more easily overcome by conventional Traveller energy weaponry, (and ignored completely by tech 11+ shielded missiles), but without the nasty side-effect of your ship blowing up from a capacitor overload. The shield simply 'fails' if the ship takes more hits than capacitor space, and you're down to armor and secondary defenses instead.
Post battle repairs require a major overhaul of all ship's energy systems if the blue globe fails from overload, so most captains will drop shields before the 75% margin is reached and try to shed energy with weapons fire and maneuvering.
The Izhmak Laraj are an insectoid race who's sphere of control is roughly 4 sectors total, about 800 parsects (20 sectors) corward of the Zhodani Consulate. Technically a 'major race', (By all accounts, they 'discovered/invented' jump drive all by themselves) the Izhmak Laraj are so far removed from the Imperial core that they're known only to the Zhodani and a few of their client races. The Zhodani are keeping that information to themselves while they debate whether a full war of conquest and pacification is warranted - They claim a good number of star systems that would greatly aid future core expeditions, and have caused the Zho's to 'go around' a fortified and settled spur of space some 14 parsecs deep and twenty parsecs wide.
A major problem with tackling them is that their tech level rides around 17 and 18 (Classic Traveller) with artifacts of even higher tech integrated into some military craft and planetary defenses. Another problem is usually considered an advantage to Zhodani diplomats, but in this case makes things a bit more difficult - Izhmak Laraj are a strongly psionic race. Unfortunately this makes their operatives and installations protected against kind, and the commonalities of Zhodani and Izhmak Psionic ability doesn't cross over into cultural compatibility.

Ah, 'spindly things' - basically function as energy sinks, drawing excess power from the shield's capacitors back outside the ship. Since they puncture the shields, they can siphon off energy without turning off the shields. They're a point of vulnerability, true, but a small tradeoff for the general protection the Blue Globes offer.
The spinal mount in this particular design has a temporary distortion field that pulls the shield in slightly, allowing the weapon to penetrate the Blue Globe only at the moment of firing.
Raised sections are primarily aesthetic for the time being until I can ret-con an excuse - but I've seen designs like this for years and years in pop Scifi, so, not entirely sure.
