After seeing How to Train Your Dragon for the third time in theatres today, I decided to dig up an old character of mine who never really got as much attention as he deserved. E'ziel, the rider, Impressed Blue Myseoth way back in something like 2003 or 2004. This was his description, as written by the team that designed the dragons of that clutch:
Murky navy flows over the hide of this expansive blue dragon, swirling in an interminable ripple over his aquiline form and plunging his complexion into the depths of a midnight lake. Pale foam flecks his nose, sweeping over his flattened headknobs and cascading down his neck in a stream of indigo bubbles; breaking the monotony of his hide with a mysterious brightness. They wend an impetuous glistening tributary down his forelegs to buffet against sandy talons. His tail stretches seemingly for miles behind him, its tenebrous coloration broken by the unheralded tones of moonlight, a color that also stains great arched wingspars which act as the rigging and masts for the deepest cerulean sails.
Here we see the pair is flying over some farmland and, suddenly overwhelmed anew by the thrill of riding a-dragonback, E'ziel throws himself back and screams his joy to the wind. A bit puzzled but amused nonetheless, Myseoth glances back at his rider as if to check that his brains are still in place.
