Here we have Jase’s family, which isn’t exactly the most... functional in the long run. His parents are Angelica and Liam.
Jase, at a young age, was adopted by both Angelica and Liam after the two tried for a long time to have their own child, but were unsuccessful in their endeavors. As such, they adopted Jase, and had hopes that a child would make things better.
Angelica can be rather selfish and immature with a love of spending money frivolously, as well as constantly absorbed in video games and the concept of being a ‘virtual idol’. It often leads to her neglecting a bunch of things around the house and just doing what she wants.
Liam works in the offices of a shipping company and constantly attempts to manage the finances of the house and where they go to. He’s an intensely frugal person who frequently gets upset over some of the more needless things that his wife insists on buying. He’s a workaholic, as well as unsatisfied with his position in the company, feeling that he deserves a greater position after all the years he put into it.
Despite their own shortcomings and issues, Angelica and Liam at the very least do care about Jase, and they often do try, but their own faults and their inability to properly understand how to truly care for a child lead to their home life being incredibly awkward. They will frequently buy him a present, thinking that will help make matters better. This, in part, was a reason for Jase acting as a class clown in school, in order to garner attention from others.
Jase’s transformation into a Goldeen Morph only served to make things more awkward. While his parents did worry if he was okay, his mother held some jealousy over his new look, but also ended up with thoughts in how she could use Jase’s looks and turn him into an internet sensation. His father, meanwhile, just feels absolute confusion towards Jase’s girlier appearance. It weirds him out, and he feels that a boy shouldn’t look so girly. However, he doesn’t want to admit this, as he doesn’t want to be seen as a jerk.
For Jase, from a young age, he had decided that once he reached the age of 14, he would become a trainer and leave his home behind in order to find a life for himself where he belonged
Perhaps the only one that Jase could turn to at home was the family’s Mime Jr, Fae. Fae would constantly provide an ear for Jase to let out his frustrations to, and would help ease the frustrations. It was thanks to Fae, and even his friends at school, that Jase was able to still keep positive.
