Not really my place to share others' stories, but definitely was some personal stuff going on. I'd have to go back through notes to find the commission details honestly. I don't recall exactly- it's been a couple of years and a lot has happened to me as well since then- but I believe it was a family health issue + some mental health stuff? I think?
I always feel bad in situations like this where there's not much I can do but offer solace, but if they want art for tough times, to get some emotion out through their characters, then I try to do what I can to convey that emotion professionally if that's what it takes to help.

She and I became friends way back in the early 2000s . I really miss her. I can't seem to find her anywhere online anymore. All her accounts are closed and the last place I was able to chat with her was on Facebook and now that's gone. Knowing what she has had to go through, I've been worried about her. Especially now, that I can't check up on her. I hope she's doing okay.

I know exactly what you mean. I may not have known her personally / long-term, but even knowing someone in passing I still form a connection with my buyers for pieces like this.
I'm hoping, perhaps its a situation where she stepped away from online communities by choice - taking a hiatus can be healthy for self-healing. I did a bit of the same to focus on other areas in my life, but never so far as to remove accounts, but I digress-
Perhaps by random chance she'll stop by and check comments here some day, and know there ARE still people that care for her well-being. I hope she's doing okay too.
