The occupation actually has me curious... how did he go from a chef to a game store worker? That seems like a bit of a downgrade - certainly would be making less money

Because the restaurant industry is very taxing. That and there is a bit of a battle with him cooking food and being poisonous at the same time. It makes people nervous. So he wanted to take a break from everything and just try something new.

I suppose the poisonous part would make sense, although snake venom isn't deadly unless it 4nters your bloodstream so even if you ingest it, supposedly it wouldn't hurt you. But, I can understand not wanting to take that risk

Well, his poison is hemotoxin. It can cause severe hemorrhaging. So he would have to bite you I believe. I do not know the effects of consuming it
