In their society, tails are like hair styles and such. They're a very personal extension, and a well kept floofy swishing tail is indeed a turn-on.

though, that does bring up the question of whether anthro skunks in your universe have the scent glands and stuff, and whether or not they have de-scenting as part of the things done with newborns (ie: like how babies are circumcised IRL)

I don't recall if you have mentioned the skunks natural defenses earlier in the comic...

Actually, I never did mention it. Yes, Chucky does have his scent glands. For skunks and any anthros that have such bodily defenses, they have to understand how to use them and control them before entering public school. It would be like an equivalent to potty training.
