Back in the early 90's I ended up befriending a guy who was ten years older than I was. He'd grown up in the 70's and listened to a lot of 60's and 70's era stuff. I'd been obsessed with 60's and 70's stuff since I was a kid (growing up on old Doonesbury & Bloom County comics as well as a lot of films like Woodstock) so when he showed me his record collection I was all over it. CSN, Doobie Bros, Santana, Zappa...and of course the Grateful Dead.

Looking back I think part of why I am how I am is because I was exposed to such a wide variety of influences. Btw Uncle Johns Band is probably my favorite tune of theirs and not because I was raised by my uncle John lol.

Uncle John's Band is in my current guitar repertoire... Including Jerry's fingerstyle noodling up and down the neck. :P
