So yeah, this is what I've been doing this past year. Group of four of us, all engineering seniors, had to do this project. It's supposed to be a model of a smart house.

It's connected to a computer, and controlled by a microcontroller programmed by software we had to write to run the whole thing. The lights, fans, and an MP3 player can all be controlled using the controller board and our program. Three USB 'security' cameras connect straight to the comp via USB (duh), and the three live video feeds can be toggled through using our software.
