M83A9 Designated Marksman Rifle
Producer: Garion Armory (Primarily)
Years in Service: 23rd Age 10th Year to Present
Type: Semi-Automatic Marksman Rifle
Cartridge: 8x57mm
Variants: N/A
Built upon the beloved M83 platform, the M83A9 serves as the standard-issue designated marksman rifle of the Republic Armed Forces and Home Guard forces. The rifle is produced by Garion Armory and keeping its roots, the A9 variant serves as a rugged, highly accurate, and modular rifle that can survive the harshest of troopers. It is a select-fire, roller delayed blowback, air-cooled marksman rifle.
The M83A9 only has one variant which is the standard one which comes in at 95cm long and also features a comfortable but heavy but adjustable marksman stock. It also features a longer and heavier barrel to help with the long-range fire. As mentioned before, the rifle is selective fire allowing it to fire in semi-automatic fire, burst fire, and safe. With the selector switch being ambidextrous and situated near the trigger. The trigger on the rifle is known to be heavy and precise, which gives it better accuracy when compared to the M83A8. The rifle also features a forward charging handle, typical trooper training calls for troopers to forcefully slap the charging handle down to cycle the bolt when reloading. The charging handle is also ambidextrous. The rifle uses the same high velocity, full metal jacket, 8x57 conventional projectile. The rate of fire was dropped down to 200-225 rpm. The A9 still uses detachable box magazines, however, due to it being more of a support rifle, the capacity of these magazines has been dropped down to 24 and 30 rounds, with 24 round magazines being preferred.
As for the sights, the M83A9 is given a pair of standard-issue iron sights which consist of a rear rotary diopter and a hooded front post. In addition to the iron sights, the M83A9 also comes with a set of projectors for holographic screen sights. However, most of the time, the rifle is outfitted with a 5x power optical scope. Due to the modularity of the platform and extensive use of rails, the M83A9 offers a great deal of customization when it comes to attachments. Thanks to the rail systems that are on the sides of the barrel and the top of the gun, like high-power optics, foregrips, laser sights, and so on.
