Mica is a Lytian, a blind and faceless race from a planet in the GG Tauri system that's exposed to the incredibly harsh light of four suns. As a result, they evolved away from eyes and developed photosynthetic fur that captures light through fiber-optic hairs. They get most of their sustenance from light and absorb the rest through their skin while bathing in nutrient-rich water. They don't need to eat or drink, so they no longer have a mouth at all. Lytians breathe and speak through small vents on their neck instead.

Even though Lytians are blind, they can sense their surroundings and other Lytians' moods through electromagnetic fields, and they also have very sensitive (non-visible) ears. But when they ventured beyond their star system and encountered alien species, they found that their lack of facial expressions made it difficult to communicate and form relationships with some species. Lytians are eager to please and value communication very highly, so they invented electronic masks to help convey their feelings, then later created cybernetic ears and tails too. The lights in the mask are rather primitive, since they had no reason to develop light- or vision-related technology until recently, but the ears and tails contain highly advanced synthetic fur, skin, muscles, and even nerves. In the years since their invention, the masks have become completely ubiquitous among all Lytians who venture outside their homeworld.

Mica is silly and charismatic, and he configured his LytUp (generation 8.7) mask to match. It senses his mood and thoughts and displays matching expressions in real time. It also moves the displayed eyes to show where his attention is focused, since staring forward all the time was almost as unnerving as a Lytian's default faceless state. He also wears cybernetic lynx ears and tail. He loves how short and fluffy they are.

Mica is very social and is known to flirt with nearly anyone, including other ships' communications operators. More than one long-term business partnership started out with a bit of Mica's flirtation. He's also very comfortable in deep space and in zero gravity, because he was born on a deep space cruiser. He first set foot on Lytia when he was 5 and does consider it his home planet, but he only visits occasionally.

This is an alternate universe version of my fursona, Mica the Bobcat. He's a bit different as a Lytian and has a very different career, but that's only natural when you've lived a very different life traveling through space!
