It's a little project I've been trying to get put together.
This forge is in the ground and will be something I can use out in the woods. The main fuel that will be used in this forge is solely coal and coke.
Coke is basically coal that has all the volatiles burnt off and leaves behind the carbon. It's kinda like how charcoal is made when you heat up wood in a oxygenless environment.
A good thing about using coal out there is the fact that no one has to smell the thick plumes of smoke that reek of coal when it is coking.
I don't have any sort of clay in my area, so I have to buy really cheap cat litter that composed of bentonite clay. I then grind up some of the ceramic bricks I have and mix that in with the clay and slake it with water. to line the inside of the soon-to-be forge.
