So with Skunktember over i do have some plans to keep you troops entertained.
October will be a mixed bag - some old art some newish art - and a few "signal boost" journals for fantastic artists who are not widely known...and of course some Samhain art.
November will be the posting of the Emma And Ash sketchbook - elaborate inkings from a couple decades as i refined the character designs etc. This from middle to late '90s - i had the idea for the story and was trying out various styles - this one came close - and i still loves it and am now going to finish it digitally. ( The original is quite small and i probably would have messed-up trying to ink the rest back then.) i posted a scan of this nine years ago :

( Check out the comments on that posting ! ^_^ )
which was all smudgyish - here i have cleaned-up and seperated the ink and pencil (tedious job) and colourized the pencil so i can see what i'm doing when doing the new inking. Also it looks cool.
i started writing this story about twenty five years ago - about a mysterious lethal plauge ... i could do without this "reality imitating art" stuff ...
December is don't unwrap until December - which is to say i'm not sure what i'll do - what the world will be like two months from now.
At ease. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em. Be ready to move out at 0500.
Troops dismissed.

Way way back i learned traditional inking with pens such as crowquills and brushes with india ink - tried using technical pens such as Rapidiographs etc, but wasn't a big fan of their comparatively lifeless lines.
When Steadtler and Sakura came out with disposable nylon tipped tech pens (the "Pigment Liner" and Micron Pigma" repectively) i was hooked with size ranges from 0.05 to 0.5 etc as well as brush pens - used those for ages (such as this pic).
i think it's been maybe a decade now that switched over to Copic "Multiliner SP"s which have a metal body with replaceable nibs and ink reservoirs - 0.05, 0.2, 0.3 and Sakura's "Pigma Sensei " for thicker lines with more flexible nibs - 0.4, 0.6, 1.0 as well as the occasional brush pen - that's pretty much a broad enough range of sizes and styles for most inking (and i still have some old Steadtler and Sakura 0.05s etc that have never run out of ink).
When i started drawing i loved 2B pencils but they do not erase well, so switched over to HB with a lighter touch as well - then added on mechanical pencils for detail work.
Erasers are also important - the go-to is a kneaded rubber eraser (when you buy them they are stiff and you have to knead them to get more flexible like clay) - they pick up pencil the best and damage ink lines the least. For detail erasing any of the white pencil style erasers (they usually come in a plastic pen-like re-fillable holder).
But even with all that once a picture is scanned i still have to go in and tidy-up some lines, erase some smudges, etc.

Jumpin' jaguars on Jupiter ! The last Emma pic i posted was Jan '16 !
i think i went into hand problems with gout and long hours at work and when i got back to her pics it was finishing and inking the old sketchbook pics - about 25 pics, most fully inked. Posting those is my November project ! ^_^
