Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads and that the cycle is broken, but I haven’t lost hope.
I still believe that somehow... the Avatar will return to save the world.
Each of these fanarts is meant to represent either a memorable moment of a characters' story, or something the character is well known for.
And for me, there was no more defining moment for Katara than when her waterbending led her and her brother to "The Boy In The Iceburg".
Sokka's tribute fanart is coming next, don't worry. Can't have one sibling without the other! ;)
