Just a sketch made this afternoon so to put something I talked about with a friend.
Not too happy with the wings, I need to learn how to draw better wings. D: Looked better without them, bleh.

I always try to get a concept of how big I am before measuring wing size, then 'drawing' it in (granted, I do it with text, not images, but the concept holds, I think.)
I usually envision the wings being even or slightly higher than the shoulders at the base, running down to just above or slightly below the tail to the first joint, up from there to at least a foot over the top of the head to the second joint, where I usually see the 'fingers' being, then down from there to about a foot off the ground... slightly higher than ankle height usually. The first and second sections are solid lengths of bone, with the last being curved, with joints like the bones of a finger, but many more to cover the size. I lso tend to consider a wing to be joined from the wingbase to near the hips by skin, as this is the only way that they can provide enough lift for a anthro dragon in my mind.
I'm not sure if any of this helps (or if you even wanted it) but there it is.

Garr? And thanks, yeah trying to push my character look to something a little different from what it used to be. It's less on the cute side, and gives more of that intriguing look, expecially the eye. Wonder if I'll keep that up, though.
Also, thanks, but you have nothing to envy me of, I say you just build your own self-confidence with your art. I have so very much to learn even from yourself.

Very impressive job on the hulking, muscular physique, particularly on the massive torso with the bulging chest and the narrowing waist (I can never get abs to curve inward like that). I love the strong, dramatic pose, the striking hair and powerful wings, and the obscenely huge bulge. It all comes together so perfectly, keep up the good work, big guy!!
