STORY: 5-13-2010, 8 AM. Amtrak 73, doing an estimated 70 MPH hits a "low boy" trailer carrying a CAT 330D Excavator. The driver of the truck ignored the warning signs and got stuck. There were 36 people on board the train, 12 were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending on the driver.

One of my faves in the NCDOT fleet(EMD GP40P-2). Wish it was one of the newer, crappier locomotives than this one..... sadness.

Also note the semi trailer hitched up under the rear truck assembly, and the nice hole in the gas tank.... that spilled 1600 gallons of good ol' deisel.
