Rathmar Species Reference Sheet 3 (Behavior and Intelligence
EDIT: EDIT: Oh man. I just remembered these ref sheets existed. These are HORRIFICALLY OUTDATED, fyi. I've change a lot about these guys since these were made (especially abilities), and these sheets are full of wrong/outdated information. If you are drawing a rathmar, please do not refer to these refs.
I'm finally posting a series of reference sheets for my made up species, the rathmar. There are 5 in total. In case if you can't read my god-awful handwriting, I'll be typing up any information from the sheet below.
Epic wall of test ahead! -.-
Rathmars: Behavior and Intelligence
Rathmars sleep and average of 13-18 hours a day. They don't do it all at once, but instead take periodic naps. These naps are longer and more frequent during the day, and shorter and far less frequent at night.
Rathmars are mostly nocturnal. They wake for short periods of time during the day, but are very active at night. During the day, they hide themselves away in dense underbrush, large trees, caves, and other shady, isolated areas.
Like most cats, rathmars are loners. However, while they prefer to be alone, they do enjoy the company of other rathmars, and often form very close friendships.
When communicating with something that isn't also a rathmar, they use a semi-enhanced "empathy" sense to detect the emotions of the creature. It's like very VERY weak mind reading. Only detects emotions. They communicate using the same "language" they would with a rathmar.
Rathmars mark their territory b scratching trees and rubbing their face, tail, etc. against them to leave their scent. However, they are not overly territorial, and will gladly allow a traveling or injured rathmar into their territory for a while.
Rathmar intelligence is on par with that of the average human. They are capable of learning human languages, both spoken and written. They also have excellent problem solving skills.
...Yeah. Rathmars and humans aren't the best of friends. Deforestation is destroying rathmar habitats. Hunters shoot deer and other animals which rathmars hunt to survive. Ratmars often attack hunters, and are notorious for organizing attacks against those who try and clear the forests in which they live. Viewed as a threat to society and an overall nuisance, government organizations exist worldwide which seek to decrease or eliminate rathmar populations.
tl;dr. Really, if you actually read all of that, you deserve a hug.
