Well, reading over this story I think I see some telling clues about who this story's culprit might be. It's definitely not Lockely, as he's not magically inclined. Unfortunately, I know virtually nothing about any of the other suspects, so the clues are all but useless to me at this point.
That said... this story gives me next to no information about Aurum himself. At least, nothing that would plausibly incriminate him as the culprit of any other story.

Well, you know Aurum is now a magical dragon familiar likely working unwillingly under some witch/warlock/wizard who has no issues transforming others for their own means, so while you don't have motive, you do have a means when it appears. It's the same sort of thing with Lockely's, you know his circumstances at the end, so you need to be on the lookout for something he may have caused!
