Last Saturday's stream pic, featuring Luthien in an Autumn setting, which is kind of a rare thing for her now. Since Valinor doesn't experience seasons this opportunity doesn't really come up much anymore, but she did live in Middle Earth (in the Elvish kingdom of Lindon) when she was younger. Since her kin are known for dressing in whatever colors would best allow them to blend in with the foliage, I'd have to assume in Fall they would trade out their greens for golds and oranges.

From my experience with my woolen cloak i can tell you that the reduction in hearing is fairly negligable. The reduction in lateral field of view is worse. As for smushing the ears, I don't think so. The hood isn't all that heavy - even when wet. There are earrings heavier than a good hood - and I expect nothing less than good quality from Elvish artisans. Even if made from wool it would hardly weigh more than 50-100 grams with the whole garment being maybe a kilogram or two. And that is talking wool - not the lightweight elven fabrics.
That said, I do like your stylistic choice, make no mistake about that. I'm just saying the issues you outlined are nearly non-existant. And I seem to remember you having drawn Luthien with a hood over her ears many years ago. Unless my memory is playing tricks on me again.
