Exchange the Mysterious Ball for the Sword, so Sefra can have a sword in his pants to go along with the pair of bells.

I'll repost that idea here, since it would make a little more sense (plus I added a little extra).

The woods are crawling with unknown creatures, and possibly other dangers.
There are two paths, one seemingly dark and dangerous, which leads into rough foliage; and the other is clear of debris, the path seemingly up-kept and travelable.

Sefra and Damien think about which path to take, not knowing that a pair of eyes watches them from the darkness.

Cautiously head to the nearest town so you can get gear that can hurt opposed to make an opponent laugh to death. Maybe Sefra should pick up a stick or something to use as a make shift weapon.

Well, currently Sefra and Damien have no leads to go on. I would look around the sides of town to see it there are any tracks. If the attackers were numerous enough to burn the town, there is a good chance they would leave distinct tracks.

If the tracks lead to another village, they should follow and look for allies.

If not, perhaps they should consider heading to the next village to get supplies.

That wooden sword will never do in a real fight, try to find a way to get a real sword.
