Alright, I've been sitting on this one for a while. I've been mixing and remixing stuff to make it all fit nicely, then ran 'er through Wavelab to open it up a bit and maximize the levels.
I came up with it while messing around working on another song, which prompted me to get sidetracked and make it into a complete song.
Although it doesn't sound like it, I was listening to Journey's "Revelation" album that features their new singer, Arnel Pineda, who's awesome, when I came up with this one.
I just kinda pulled the title out of my ass, as I often will, but I guess it's kind of a reference to listening to a lot Journey at the time. This is much heavier than that though and I'm not really sure what to say this really sounds like. The alternate bass note and the end of the chorus does make me think Bryan Adams though. But, that description wouldn't fit the rest of the song haha. Just that progression.
Like I said, I've had this for a while and haven't paid 100% attention to finishing it, as I've been working on another song that will see me doing vocals on it, but y'all will find out about that when I finish with that. Soon maybe.
I've got another song that I did before this guy that I've still yet to mix and re-record the bass line for. I went and adjusted the pickups on my bass to get it less boomy and kinda followed the way Geddy Lee's pickups are set up on his bass. If I remember right, I had to re-record the bass on this one too, because I recorded it before I adjusted, and the bass was just getting away from me. Still had to EQ this one to get it under control, so maybe I didn't re-record it. I dunno, I can't remember, but does that really matter?
Um, but ya. Got myself another killer solo in there, if I do say so myself. </tooting own horn>
I think it probably took me about 15-20 minutes to construct the different parts of it through constantly looping the solo section and wingin' it. Then it probably took another 15-20 to get a take of it fully fleshed out that I liked. I'd say the little lick at the end of the solo is my favorite part. That, and the little climb down the fretboard 'bout halfway through.
All in all, I like the song. One of my more recent works that actually doesn't feature a synth at all, and I've actually completed it, (one of my biggest problems with creating music).
Enjoy guys!
It's 320kbps, so give it a sec to load.

This is all done DI into Cubase. I've got the guitars running through Amplitube 2 and the bass running through AmpegSVX.
I tend to do everything DI these days just because of the versatility of it all. If I wanna change the sound of it, it's merely a click away.
My amp's alright, got a Fender Stage100, but it doesn't always get the sound I'm looking for. What I've yet to do, is record DI, edit it and send it out to my amp to be mic'd.
I'm in the process of looking for a bigger and better rig, either something Vox or an old 70s Traynor head/cab.
Thanks for the fav!
