After drawing the pouch joey I kinda wanted to draw this bit out too since it's something I often only mention in passive writing. Octive was born as a gliding mammal but with a defect. He wouldn't develop the proper gliding membrane to be able to take to the sky with despite the endless forest of tall trees and cliffs all around him. Although he would train his own agility quite extensively to try and make up for it, he wouldn't know the joy of true flight untill he discovered his famous inflatable and shaping magic bard curses. As you might see in my refs, after he mastered magic he would decide to keep the torn bits intact but start wearing the signature vest to cover it up.

As a fun extra, this whole bit really comes from my own ability to actually draw the patagium all that well originally. I mainly just avoided it until I just thought hey why not make it part of his character. this is why I really encourage you to embrace your shortcomings and doing whatever you can think of to help make your art work for you. Furthermore it can give some extra justification for a personality bit I like, he has great empathy for those not born all that priviledged.
