I’d seen resonator guitars (often referred to as Dobros) before, but until I saw this, I wasn’t aware that the design had been tried on a ukulele. The resonator was invented to help boost the volume of an acoustic instrument in the days before electric amplification. It also adds a “jangly” kind of quality to the sound that seems popular in country music.
The brass resonator cover is the most distinctive feature of this uke. But it also has a beautiful burst finish on its mahogany body and the pearly bindings add to its eye-catching good looks. This instrument (which I’ve dubbed The Ukenator) has a sound that is uniquely different from my other ukes.
