It is the nature of life to fight for its existence. All of our energy and struggles are directed towards prolonging our lives as long as possible. It is no different in the natural world, even in the trees. But do trees ever reach towards Heaven, begging for aid or the strength to endure another day? Do they ever ask why they are chopped down, or find themselves beset by disease? Do they scream when animals carve holes in their trunks and leave a perpetual wound that will never go away? Like us, do they wonder what the point of it all is? Why they struggle to live when all that awaits them is death, which inevitably takes all things?
