ConFuzzled just happened, and I got chatting to
zen over a chance meeting in the lobby.
ConFuzzled was brilliant, and talking to other furs about their lives gave me plenty of inspiration for new tracks - including this one. Zen told me he was South African and that he wished he could do music. Suddenly, a tiny fox in my brain collaborated with lots of others and formed an idea! Close your eyes, Zen, and picture your Joshua character wondering into the African rainforests with drums in paw, sitting down, and playing. And as he plays, the forces of nature and the community of animals all come together in perfect unison. As he plays, he realises that he always had this power to play, but can only now see the wonders it produces.
I'd never tried an African based piece before, and playing around with this one is essentially all I've done since ConFuzzled, after I scribbled down a couple of riffs while at the bar. It consists of African drums and percussion, shakers, a kalimba, a marimba, a choir, and strings. The title of the piece is in Afrikaans, one of the eleven official languages of South Africa.
(Oh, and before it's pointed out - yes, I am aware that some of the instruments are from the southern African region, not the nation of South Africa.)
Surprise, Zen! Hope you enjoy it. ^.^

How very un-Equium of you (as in the style). I admit to being entirely lame at percussion, but bravo on this attempt, sir. Certainly from the right area of the world. I would have picked up the pace towards the end some (or rather, increased it with some more percussion) but then that's probably westernising it.
