Whew, this one is hard on the voice. I'm more of a baritone to a natural tenor and am singing quite a few counter-tenor notes on this one. Sure, I could've shithammered the studio magic in the vocals but I felt this cut was all-around good enough. The vocals are the last instrument you should fake in the studio if you play live.
Anyway, this one is done by Sonata Arctica on their Ecliptica album. Check 'em out if you're into power metal. I believe it was written by Tony Kakko. The song seemed an appropriate cover to me, all things considered.
Guitar - Jackson RR5 X Series w/ Line 6 Spidervalve 212
Bass - Peavey Millenium BXP5
Keyboards - Casio CTK-533 w/ Digidesign Xpand! module
Drums - Guitar Hero World Tour kit w/ XLN Audio Addictive Drums module
Vocals - Shure SM58

Your voice. <3
How'd you get your GH kit to work as a MIDI controller though? I'd like to know.
Also, you could try putting an additional guitar on the left. It sounds a bit oddly tilted now. Other than that, awesome!
Love the synth sounds as well. I so want the sound you use in the solo. :D

Yeah, I noticed that about the guitars, too. I'm divided on panning the guitars and using extra for balance or just setting everything to mono. But you're right, it is a little guitar heavy on one speaker.
There aren't any official drivers for the GH kit so everything is created by fans. Which would explain why its so hard to do. I can't remember how I did it but I remember you need three programs to run it (LoopBe1, PS360Drum, and any recording software that allows plugins (Reason, FruityLoops, ProTools, etc.)) plus you need the drum plugin itself. If I find the tutorial I'll place it here.
As for the synth sound, it's called Xpand! and it's free. Unfortunately it only runs on ProTools so if you don't have it, then I don't think Xpand! will run. You can download it here:
