Over the past few months, and especially since the current, ongoing situation of this Plague-Year of 2020 has ground many activities of everyone's ordinary lives to a halt, most of us have been forced to adapt to the situation as best we can. I suppose in my own case, I have been lucky enough to have (after several lean and difficult years), finally been able to obtain a reasonably reliable car, which has opened up possibilities to me, which I haven't been able to enjoy for well over a decade. The biggest of these is the ability to simply jump in the car, and take a road trip to visit places you've always wanted to see, but thus far, have been unable.
One of those places at the top of the list, at least here in Ontario, Canada was the rugged, Lake Huron coastline (because the Great Lakes are indeed inland seas). I had been told that the most beautiful part of the Huron coastline was, by far, that made up by the Northern Niagara Escarpment, specifically Huron and Grey Counties, and further northward, the Bruce Peninsula, and, ultimately Manitoulin Island. Basically, Ontario's Bruce Peninsula is sometimes considered the eastward, mirror image of Wisconsin's Door Peninsula.
One of the most famous sites along the Bruce Peninsula is a massive, stone, cliffside feature known as Lion's Head.
And, just like I found out for myself that Grey/Bruce are indeed the most beautiful areas of Southern Ontario that I have ever seen, so too is Lion's Head every bit awe-inspiring as I was led to believe.
Exploring the area, as well as other nearby places such as Grieg's Caves, I just couldn't help but be inspired, although it has taken me several weeks of letting these ideas percolate and develop, before I felt that I could do them proper justice.
