Angel Wings makes their landing (short story)
It was a normal, sunny day- the clouds were perfect for watching lazily drift by, and the gentle breeze wasn't too strong- so you could continue sketching the clouds without being interrupted by your paper being blown away. You were leaned up against the trunk of a tree next to a big open clearing in the forest- little white flowers dotted the fresh spring grass like splattered paint. It was truly a lovely day to just... exist within nature. You sigh, reclining back further and closing your eyes just for a moment... and the next thing you know you've slipped into a dreamland, the lazy midday sunlight relaxing you into a nap. Your dream was oddly vivid- walking on the surface of a big fluffy cloud overlooking an endless green sea of grass. It was almost like you'd left yourself to go frolic in the clouds above you, and you might've believed that if you didn't realize you were asleep. In the dream, it was like gravity had loosened its grip on your body- so you could jump and drift through the sky like a feather, falling safely on the big puffy cloud below your feet. One misstep, and before you knew it, you were off from the cloud and drifting towards the ground. While you were falling, you were picking up more and more speed, until you were falling like an anvil. Right before you hit the ground, panic wakes you with a start.
Phew... Of course it was just a dream, but that didn't stop it from giving you a miniature heart attack. You did notice something odd about the waking world, though, and it was that there was an unusually dark, unusually.... distinct cloud shadow drifting across the field, accompanied by the breeze picking up. You look up at the sky and squint from the glare of looking directly at the sun- and there's something flying through the air!
What is it? It looks like it has a wingspan- But it doesn't look like a bird, or any other kind of flying animal- it kind of looks like... JUST the wingspan. You didn't notice it before because you were just trying to puzzle out what it was you were looking at- But the thing was huge. Bigger than anything you've ever seen flying around here- If you had to guess, it was about 20 feet tall. It was just lazily drifting through the sky, seemingly getting closer to earth, until it started to make it's landing by extending one of it's large legs towards the ground and rotating it's body to land upright. It looked like a huge pair of angel Wings with a large halo attached to the top- and two light blue legs with big, round feet attached to the bottom. It made it's landing a ways away from where you were sitting, and you didn't realize how wide your eyes were until the breeze from the angel's landing made them sting. Your heart was racing and so was your thoughts- You've seen animate inanimate objects before, but never this BIG. Your fear was just instinct.
It- no, they, rustled a little bit after fully coming down from the sky- puffing up slightly like a bird and turning around in the field to sit down leaning against the trees behind them. They sat down all at once, extending their feet out all the way, and before you could register what was happening...
Pomf! You were knocked over by the angel's massive pillowy paw and pinned under the heel- The angel seemingly being unaware of your existence. You squirmed a little, and tried to shove their big, soft foot off of you, when they twitched and lifted it up, freeing you and inquisitively looking for whatever they just felt.
"Oh my!" The angel said, surprised. "I'm so sorry, little thing!"
They could talk? "O-Oh... I-It's okay!" You say, flabberghasted.
"I've never seen little creatures in this part of the woods, so I assumed it was a safe place to make my landing..." They continued. "I'm Angel Wings, by the way."
"O-oh! Hi!" You say, "I don't usually come here, but the weather was so nice, so I just.." You felt silly realizing what you were doing. "Oh, and I'm Y/N. Nice to meet you..??"
"Why don't you come closer so I can see you better, and you can get out of the way of my paw?" Angel Wings said.
You realized you were sort of blocking them from sitting comfortably, so you got up and walked closer to the object towering over you. Once you got closer and closer to their body, you realized just how HUGE they were- looming over you like a tall building.
"W-woah." You subconciously say.
"Oh? Ahaha, I get it... I'm a little bit bigger than you're probably used to." Angel Wings continued. "I hope I didn't hurt you earlier..."
You recall being squished, but nothing broke or even ached- It was a pleasant pressure, like having someone sit in your lap.
"No, don't worry about it!" You say. "I'm fine... Your feet are very soft."
Angel Wings' face flushed. "I do take great pride in taking care of myself, hehe... Can I make it up to you after so rudely squishing you earlier?"
"H.... How so?" You say, nervous.
"Would you like a closer look at my soft feet..?" They said, pulling their feet into a slight butterfly position, trapping you inbetween their legs like a doll. "Humans seem to like them whenever I meet one... I apologize if this is strange, I don't know much about human customs..!"
"Hahh- well- I don't think it's strange at all.... Do you meet many humans?" You continue.
"Sometimes... I try to keep away from places where I could squish many of them. I wouldn't want to make anyone upset!" Angel wings pulled their legs closer to their body, sweeping you up with them- you were leaning against their huge round paws like two squishy beanbag chairs, making you feel like a little bug compared to the giant object.
"Ohh, they smell nice!" You say, blushing. "I can see why a lot of people like em..."
"Oh you flatter me," Angel Wings says, and they slightly pin you between their smooth, clean paws- It was like they were just washed and never walked on. I guess with flying everywhere, it's easy to keep your soles nice and clean. You can't help but hug Angel Wings' paw as you're smothered by them on both sides- They felt like sweet cushiony clouds and smelled like them too. Angel Wings was sighing and reclining back onto the trees behind them- the trunks slightly bending under their weight.
"It's always nice to have someone to relax with after a long flight..." They say, "Do you want to join me for my nap?" They ask.
"O-oh. Sure thing!" You say bashfully. You could use some more rest...
Before you knew it, you were sleeping again- this time your dreams were distinctly devoid of any accidental falls.
a little story feat Angel Wings cause i felt like they needed a little bit of a spotlight too :D I hope you enjoy! based heavily on the other picture I did of them landing in a field with a couple trees (by the same name as the title)
also, side note, i didn't mean to do this, but a lot of my stories end with the two characters falling asleep XD i guess that says a lot about my priorities in life!
