The depths of the Earth were fraught with all manner of beasts and malicious beings. Be them the wandering dead, unkind under-dwellers, or things beyond description, there was a need for safety from such dangers. Legions of warriors, scouts, and mages banded together from the dwarven clans to fight back any encroaching evils from depths long abandoned. Tempering her armor with the various battles on expeditions to reclaim old tunnels and strongholds, Dallia was in the fight with all her being, but often fantasized snout the other direction. None but tradesmen, nobles, and merchants went beyond the great doors of the dwarven kingdoms, a luxury she didn't have afforded her. But that fantasy had been shattered when it finally became a reality. A ranger from outside, with pointed ears and hair as fiery as the great forges, came to the assembly of the councils, with treaties of new writ, an adventure beyond the great halls. The bellowing voices thundered as the elf stood stoic, as such an assembly between the races hadn't taken place in hundreds, if not thousands of years. Dallia had listened from a guard post and listened to the she-elf explain that various groupings of adventurers we're being assembled to counter a mounting number of threats to all life. The voices of the elders convened amongst themselves with the heat of a mage's fireball, but when the initial exchange of insults in old tongues and flinging of spittle ceased the turned to the she-elf. With nearly a collective sigh they agreed to the terms, likely fearing a great influx of volunteers as their expeditions held off, positions in the caverns halted. And without warning the she-epf locked eyes with Dallia, not so hidden as she thought. "I'd like to know the name of that bold warrior there!" She said, pointing at the she-dwarf now stepping into view. The council turned to look at her, scratching beards or fiddling with ornate armor plates. "Dallia. My name is Dallia, apprentice paladin of expedition group thirty-five." Dallia said, straightening up, though not likely to come past the she-elf's waistline. "Then, Dallia, junior paladin, it seems you're the first." The she-elf announced, turning again to the council. "First for what, if I may ask?" Dallia inquired, unsure of what she was now a part of. The she-elf approached her with a rolled parchment, handing it to her. It was hefty, the indentations of wax seals and the edges of signatures on the surface as she unrolled it. "You're the newest member of Torchbearer group fifteen. Don't worry, I think the others will like you." The she-elf said, patting Dallia on the shoulder, as the council members nodded their heads and crossed ceremonial weapons over their chests in salute. "So, um, I hope you have something to carry your stuff in. We're not exactly well-funded, yet." The she-elf said, walking her long strides as they made their way to the great doors, Dallia's heart pounding as this was all so sudden. Before her now lay a new world and what would await her she was anxious to see!
