Korne spotted the shop off in the distance. Dressed in a t-shirt and shorts, he made his way closer. The shop in question, run by a dragon who was experienced in transformational items, was steadily gaining experience.
The dragon was lazily snoozing on the counter when Korne approached, with one arm out and his head resting on it, while the other arm limply hung down below the counter. He didn’t seem very intimidating for a big scaly reptile.
When Korne approached, the dragon seemed to notice and shook himself awake. “Mm? I uh… ahem… Welcome to my TF Shop! I’ve got plenty of things that are sure to change your life! They’re as reliable as TF Hoops breaking after you use them.” the dragon said, giving a wink but yawning soon afterwards, showing off rows of sharp teeth.
“Hmm… yeah, I was looking for something uh… aquatic?” Korne asked, lifting a finger hesitantly.
“Aquatic, you say? Then how do you expect to go back the way you came? Some poor individual became a leopard shark a few weeks ago and couldn’t even flop away. He wanted a refund but…” The dragon then tapped the sign on the front of the counter. “No refunds, sorry.”
Korne scratched the back of his head for a moment. “Then… how about something that’s made for both the land and the water?”
A lightbulb seemed to go off on top of the dragon. “Ah, an amphibian or a reptile! Both excellent choices. Now let me see…” He turned around and Korne could see the wide wingspan in its fullest. He looked at the shelves and shook his head a couple times before ducking down under the counter, rummaging through stuff. His thick tail moved back and forth as he went looking.
“This should work.” the dragon finally said, coming back up with a glass bottle filled with what looked like water. “This is a great one. Simply think of what amphibian or reptile you’d like to become, take one swig of it, and you’re on your way to becoming that creature. I’ve decided to get more customizable items instead of ones that randomly cause any transformation. Makes people ask for refunds less.” He set it down on the counter carefully. “Fifty dollars.”
“That’s… a lot of money for a bottle of water.” Korne mumbled while fishing out his wallet.
“Well, it would be cheaper in a plastic bottle, but I want to be environmentally friendly.” the dragon answered, taking his fifty dollars. “Okay, all yours! Pleasure doing business with ya!”
Korne looked at the clear liquid and visualized what he wanted in his head. With one quick motion, he drank a good portion of the water before tilting his head back down. “Tastes better than I thought.”
“I mean it’s water. I purified it myself!” the dragon said proudly, raising an eyebrow. “Oh hey, your ears.”
Indeed, Korne’s ears were changing. They were losing their functions as ears, though he could still hear, but they became more decorative. One became navy blue while the other was bright yellow.
He began to shrink some, though his shorts began to rip and shred due to his thighs swelling and bulking up. Blue slimy skin could be seen beneath the tears.
“Might want to remove your footwear.” the dragon pointed out.
Quickly nodded, and speechless from the changes, Korne managed to remove both shoes before his feet grew longer and ripped through one of his socks. Blue round toes greeted his eyes, and they were webbed as well.
“Blarg… bleh…” Korne grunted, feeling his tongue suddenly swell up in his mouth. He shut it tight, but his mouth was soon overwhelmed by a massive tongue that spilled out of his mouth! It was sticky and slimy, and he propped it up awkwardly in his left hand. “Greninja!”
All over, his skin was turning blue. His left arm grew a light blue squishy pad, followed by his right arm, then his knees as he sank to one. His lower legs grew thinner, and from his rear a short spike of a tail burst out of his pants!
Korne’s right hand started to change, some fingers merging and his thumb shrinking away, leaving a three-fingered webbed hand. Unable to grip the bottle, he let it fall through his slimy wet hands and it shattered on the ground, water spilling everywhere.
“Oh, whoops. Cleanup on Aisle 9!” the dragon called behind him.
“Got it…” Out came an orange kobold with a mop and a bucket, ready to clean up the mess.
By that point, Korne had finished his transformation into a Greninja. He wrapped his long tongue around his neck like a scarf and blinked his newly red eyes. “Gre!” he said happily.
“Glad to be of service!” the dragon said, giving a slight wave. “Plus, you gave my employee something to do!”
The orange kobold lifted his eyes. He was not amused.
With that, Korne hopped away with his powerful legs, excited to test out his new agile body!
