Ryu, having been turned into a maned wolf thanks to an item purchased at the dragon’s shop, was finally ready to change again. For the past who knows how long, he had been earning money as the dragon’s helper running the store. Kind of like an internship.

By now, he had a hefty sum of money accumulated. After an… incident where Ryu actually gave a loud “awoo” and the dragon fined him, he finally had enough. Actually, it was enough to buy two items, just in case he didn’t like his first form. He was ready this time, for anything.

“So you’re finally ready to change back?” the dragon asked, crossing his arms and shifting a tank containing a leopard shark on the counter a bit closer to the left side. “Aw, I was hoping to keep you as a maned wolf for a bit longer. You’re kinda cute this way.” he said, petting Ryu on the head.

Ryu rolled his eyes while the dragon ducked under the counter. “Okay, what is it that you want?”

It took a lot of deciphering on the dragon’s part, but Ryu eventually managed to get his point across.

“Okay, let’s see if I get this straight.” the dragon said, looking at the notes he wrote. “You want to be a dragon. A big one, bigger than what you are now.”

“Roark!”

“Okay, okay, big. Yes, I gotcha. And a noodle dragon too? That can be done. Big… BIG… noodle dragon. Well, I’ve got the thing for you!” he said, ducking under the counter again, before emerging with a single cup of noodles.

“Here it is. Instant Noodle. Just sit pretty and I’ll prepare it for you.” he said, grabbing a pot full of water before taking a deep breath and blowing flames at it, quickly heating the water to a boil.

(Instant Noodle? Doesn’t he mean Instant Noodles?) Ryu wondered internally. (Oh, whatever. I’ll think about the second item that I want now…) And so the maned wolf sat down slowly thinking about his backup plan.

Meanwhile, the dragon poured the hot water into the cup of noodles. From underneath the counter, he pulled out a silver flavor packet and tore it open. “He wants big, so he’s getting big. Never let it be said I don’t deliver! I just hope this works.” he said to himself, emptying the contents in the cup.

Once the noodles were soft, the dragon finally reached for some wooden chopsticks. “Ryu! Ready for Instant Noodle?” he turned to the leopard shark in the tank, looking up at him. “Sorry, Criz. I don’t have any for you.”

Ryu quickly bounded over to the counter and opened his muzzle, the dragon twirling the chopsticks, getting a whole lot of them, and dropped them in the wolf’s mouth.

“It’s chicken flavored. Spicy, too. I hope it’s what you want.” the dragon said, quickly taking the cup back and turned the fish tank to give the shark a good view.

A warm feeling spread inside Ryu’s belly, and this warm feeling grew, and grew, and grew! He could feel his body expanding quickly, growing bigger, bigger… bigger! Bigger than he was used to?! The feelings rose to an apex as smoke suddenly appeared, poofing and turning Ryu into the form he desired. He shut his eyes tightly, taken aback by the change.

Once he felt like his body stopped shifting, he began to stir. Meanwhile, the shopkeeper dragon’s eyes lit up as he saw the large noodle derg collapsed on the ground, his tongue sticking out and resting on the ground.

Ryu still had his eyes closed as he struggled to his feet. He took stock of all the things he had, though. Limbs… tail… longer body than he remembered… he cracked his eyes open and…

“Well?”

He opened his eyes to see way below him, the tiny form of the dragon who sold him the noodles, and the shop, which now looked like a children’s play set.

“It worked! Haha!” the yellow dragon cheered, walking over to the front of the counter with the cup of noodles still in his hand. “I even double enchanted it to make sure it exceeded your expectations, because that’s what a good person does, right? And you know, because you paid double and all. I just hope I didn’t exceed them too much.”

“Double?! Who said anything about paying double?! That extra was for a second item, in case I didn’t like the first!” Ryu protested, or at least he would have protested, if he didn’t make only growling noises.

He blinked and paused for a moment. (Oh… I still can’t speak…)

Pouting, he fell to the ground again, making it shake dangerously, his large dragon head taller than the other dragon and his shop. The shopkeeper came up and rested his arms on Ryu’s large nose, grinning.

“I’m so happy it had the desired effect! Cause I don’t think there’s many jobs I can give you now... “ he said, smiling genuinely. “And I get the feeling that most of your pay is gonna end up going to food costs. At this size, you’ll probably need a lot.” And Ryu was indeed massive. In terms of length, he was a couple thousand feet long!

“Also, I’m happy we have another dragon here now. I wonder what our kobold friend will think?” the shopkeeper dragon continued, thinking to himself. “Anyway, you gonna finish this? You paid for it, after all.” he concluded, holding up the cup of Instant Noodle.”

The very very VERY BIG noodle derg could only pout and sigh in defeat, trails of smoke rising up from his nostrils as he realized he was stuck, once again, at the mercy of the shopowner. Disgruntled, he got up and walked behind the shop, preparing the sleep off his frustration.

“RYU! Your tail is blocking the whole road!” the yellow dragon shouted, pointing out the lower end of the noodle derg’s body.

Ryu grimaced. He’d have to get used to this.
