My guess is a sunrise flare off the atmosphere. Twin star system, or perhaps a second system relatively close by.

I thought so at first as well, but a binary would cause the shadow of the day/night line to be cast dfferently with a second light source at a different angle..

Not if it's still on the far side of the planet. The second terminator is just coming around the side, leaving what we can see effectively lit by a single star.

It’s just a flare off the atmosphere to make things look more interesting since I felt it looked too boring before. Don’t read into it any more than that.
