"Sins and Sensibilities"
From the Diaries of Willow Fawnsworthy
edited by M. Mitchell Marmel
August, 1936The stained glass window showed four does, dressed in simple, luminous white robes, kneeling and facing me, their paws folded in prayer, each with a crown of thorns. Behind them, three New Haven bastards holding a gun, a noose and a knife. Mama, Hellie and Peggy have their heads bowed. And I found myself staring into my own eyes.

Hey, Matt, if you want to read some more on what I was talking about, see if you can hunt down a copy of this book right here:
http://www.amazon.com/Deer-Wars-Tra.....=cm_cr_pr_pb_t
Deer Wars does a great job of covering the whole problem of managing deer population in PA. I've yet to get a chance to read the whole thing through (at that price, I'm hunting for a library copy) but the chapter on deer roadkill alone is stunning. I remember something like a few hundred guys hired every year just to clean the dead deer off of the roads, and each of them averages a few hundred roadkill deer every year.
And the deer are apparently still starving every winter, even with that sort of population shrink. How many deer are there in the PA woods, anyway?

And you can add in to that so many of the well-to-do from NY and Philly moving into my local area, setting up McMansion developments complete with their own strip mall (gotta have a Starbucks right next door, after all!) and their own high school so their kids won't be contiminated by association with the locals.
And then they complain to us "old-timers" that, "Where did all the nature go? You rednecks should have protected it!" :headdesk: :headdesk:

Actually, considering that it's the animal rights gang (at least here in PA) who've arranged for sa situation in which there are so many deer they're literaly starving to death every winter, then you'd be doing the deer a bigger favor by lynching a few PETAheads and self-righteous meddling animal rights goons.
