Captain Nathan Merrick spends most of his time protecting the city of Orpheus from various threats. Every morning before he dons his armor and every afternoon after he takes it off he likes to enjoy some tea in the garden in his favorite chair.

Now this is lovely. I like how calm and relaxed he looks and he maintains a lovely garden, too. Every warrior, as well as the rest of us for that matter, deserves to have one place in the world where they can be at peace and just enjoy some time to think. Or just sit and sip tea.
Also, I really like his outfit, and I'm slightly jealous you were able to find someone to draw him wearing a proper tunic. I've been trying to get various characters in tunics for years!

His wife probably takes care of the house and the garden. Not to say he doesn't help, but he's got a city to protect. Perhaps a bit old fashioned but it works. And I agree, we all need an escape from our daily routines.
The outfit I think was mostly Luthien, I just told her to draw him without his armor I think, I believe most of the references were him on duty so to speak, so she did all that herself. Luthien is my go to for fantasy images. :) Maybe you should get a picture from her sometime. :)

Ah, I wasn't actually thinking in terms of who did the work on it as much as his simply having one, but that's kind of a fun fact to know. And hey, if the arrangement works for them, that's all that matters, right? I'm not necessarily opposed to people maintaining traditional roles, so long as that's what both partners want.
I would love to commission Luthien again. I used to, back in the day, and some of my favorite pieces are by her. Sadly, her prices are well out of my reach these days. And she always seems to open for commissions when I don't have any spare cash for such things, too. If someday the stars align to let me commission her, I'd be on it like a shot! I'd dearly love to see Bleu in her style for one, since it's largely thanks to her that I'm so fond of wolf anthros.

Oh yeah, it just seemed to suit them but of course if she wanted Claire could go pick up a sword or do whatever she wanted, my worlds generally practice gender equality though it is nice to have someone to take care of the house!
Understandable, at least for a while I can't commission her either, but she is well worth the money and I like supporting traditional art. There aren't too many of them in the fandom these days and I think it's worth preserving.
