Remembers me of Metal Gear Solid - especially because in that game the FAMAS is called FA-MAS (with the -)

Yes,in the Metal Gear Solid,it is called FA-MAS.
In Japan,its are called two patterns.FAMAS or FA-MAS.
I don't know which is ture name.

I think it's "FAMAS" because I only see it with that name on every gunsite in the net. xD;

It's very misleading.

I think that's more FA-MAS, because it means Assault Rifle - St-Etienne's Weapon Factory. The - is just for the weaponfactory's location, as Dassault or others... But as long as St-Etienne is the main factory of that rifle, it gives the name to that weapon.
French used more the FA-MAS spelling better than the FAMAS one, but the two are correct!
FAMAS ou FA-MAS, là n'est pas la question je pense ;)
I'll ask for that to a french soldier, maybe he would be more accurate than me?

FAMAS(FA-MAS) is an abbrevatied title.
I think both of them are okay.
They are same pronouciation in Japanese.
