That rules! Jakobs rawks! I have a Jakobs hat and I wear it all the time (except in the wintertime when I wear what I call a "redneck ushanka"). I've always thought Jakobs should make lever-action guns, ever since Borderlands 1 since their pump-actuated revolving shotguns have a handguard around the grip that looks like a lever which could also be used to actuate a cylinder with helical cam tracks (which could be on the inside or the outside). Think Webley-Fosbery but with "manual transmission," so to speak.

As for lore, I think Jakobs was founded in 2035 and the Borderlands saga takes place in the 29th century, so the Jakobs company is well over 800 years old. There's an Easter egg in Lil's Firehawk base in Borderlands 2 with a screen that says that Roland graduated from home school in the year 2854. As for motif, Jakobs draws inspirado from Remington, Winchester, Thompson, Colt, Smith & Wesson, and maybe also Ithaca.
